The Rotary Club of Elk Rapids-International Services Committee has a strong legacy of involvement in international projects around the world. We have not only supported these projects financially but in most cases led the initiatives with personal participation and project management. Included on the list of activities have been the polio eradication campaign, and projects around the world including India, Malawi (Africa), and Haiti to name a few. We've had a strong focus on health & education-related issues including the management of waterborne diseases through sanitation education and bio-sand water filters in homes and schools in poor and remote regions.

Our Club has championed several clean water projects in Haiti in collaboration with other Rotary Clubs in District 6290, and Pure Water for the World, a non-governmental organization that operates in Haiti.   In 2016, our Club was instrumental in obtaining a $151,000 grant from The Rotary Foundation that will provide clean water for about 1,000 families in Trianon, Haiti.  The Rotary Clubs of Petionville (Haiti) and Glens Falls (NY) also play important roles in obtaining this grant along with several other US Rotary Clubs that helped provide some of the essential matching funds.  Our efforts have included on-site participation by club members.

The Elk Rapids Rotary Club also continues to work with the Warm Hearts Foundation to help provide solar lanterns, school desks, water wells, and funds for a micro-loan initiative in Malawi.
