The board met Tuesday morning to discuss and take action on a number of items, which resulted in:
Organized a committee to start the process of creating a 501C3 qualified entity as a sister organization to our club to allow us to offer tax advantages to potential donors
Sent the request from the ERDL for $100,000 pledge over three years to the Good Works committee for its review
Approved a $1,000 donation to Wheels of Hope for their work in supplying bicycles in Haiti
Approved both the General Fund budget as well as the Good Works budget\
Sent proposed procedural language to the Good Works committee which, if adopted, will have the board and chairs of fundraisers or other events develop budgets to both limit overall expenditures while streamlining appropriate expenditures
Declined t provide gift cards for the upcoming Interact District conference
Approved purchasing a $75 gift basket that reflects Elk Rapids for auction at the upcoming District 6290 Conference
Grant Process Requirements
There are 100 ways to serve in our club, with varying time and effort requirements. One important opportunity we need handled by 10/15 determines our club's ability to apply for district matching grants. We need two club members annually to view the online training so that we can submit for matching grants. It will require a couple of hours of your time, and potentially return us a great investment. So, if you have the time and can join Bob Chaphalkar as our other trained person, please let Bob or me know. Thanks

President's Message
Thank you to Mark Davidson for taking the time to tell us about himself at Tuesday's meeting. It was very interesting to hear about the airline industry from his perspective and how things changed in his 40 years in the cockpit.
At this coming week's meeting Norm Veliquette and Bill Donberg will be talking about a youth initiative they've been involved with called Launch to Leadership. Knowing their passion for our young people, I'm sure this will be a good one.
Roadside Cleanup
Are the conversations during the roadside pick up by definition trash talk? :)
Saturday, September 21 is our last roadside cleanup for the season. Please plan to meet at 9:30 am at Rotary Park for a time of fellowship with other club members, and some picking and grinning!
2024-2025 is the 75th Anniversary Year of our club. We plan to have snippets of history shared with members and some creative activities.
