Aviation Program
Peter Lane, the Executive Director of the Legacy Aviation Learning Center in Traverse City left the club fired up about spreading the word regarding career opportunities students in aviation maintenance. What an option for a young person!  Trade careers have been getting a lot of press recently as an alternative to college, and this one sounds great, with an accelerated program, available tuition loans, and a guaranteed, high-paying job upon graduation. I'm pretty sure a lot of us left the room Tuesday thinking about nieces, nephews, and grandchildren who we needed to talk to about this. Thanks Bill Donberg for getting Peter to us!

Thanksgiving Hiatus
As we have done in the past, we'll be taking the week of Thanksgiving off from our normal meeting Tuesday morning, 11/26, to make that busy week a little less hectic.

Christmas Party and Auction
The annual Rotary Club of Elk Rapids Christmas Party and Auction will be the evening of Tuesday, December 3, again at HERTH. Final details are still being worked out, but it will be generally the same format with a dinner and live auction of gifts supplied by club members. This event has been bringing in around $10,000 in proceeds that we then donate to deserving area causes picked by our membership. Thank you to those who are generous with their auction gifts, and even more so to those who allow Santa Ed to incite them to bid even higher than they were intending to bid for those items. Because of the evening meeting, there will be no morning meeting on 12/3.

Board and Committee Meetings
The club board will be meeting Tuesday, 11/19, at 8:15 at the First Presbyterian Church for its regular monthly meeting.

President's Message
Annually our club staff's the Salvation Army collection point at the Village Market in Elk Rapids. I took a shift last Friday afternoon, and was yet again amazed and humbled by the generosity of people. Jim Hockin leads this project, and he's still looking for more bell ringers, so take a shift, raise some money, and have your faith in humanity given a boost.

If you are aware of a program or an interesting speaker that we can get on the schedule in the coming months for our morning meetings, please let me know. So far this year, I have been trying to have a mix of programming for the morning meetings, alternating between presentations from outside the club, member forums, and networking time. I know that winter is a slower time for us, with a smaller group typically, but it's still a good opportunity to bring awareness to the club of programs and issues, so if you have something that you think might fit, hit me up, as the young people say. Thanks!

2024-2025 is the 75th Anniversary Year of our club.  We plan to have snippets of history shared with members and some creative activities.
