Winter club; 20 strong!

Acting President's (Doug's) message:

Rotary Club is Community:

This past week, I watched a documentary about a young woman from Elk Rapids in the short series Stalking Samantha: 13 Years of Terror, released in late 2025. It chronicles her long experience with stalking and, ultimately, her kidnapping beginning in 2010. While the story is difficult to watch, it offers an opportunity to reflect on our club and our role in the community in a subtle but meaningful way.  For example, through our recent speaker agenda, we heard from the Antrim County Canine Police Unit and their counterparts in Grand Traverse County who played a role in the suspect’s capture. Week after week, we are introduced to community programs, local leaders, and organizations making a difference. We also network with one another, extending our reach through our families, friends, and professional circles.  Because of our club’s involvement, we are among the best informed in our community. If that awareness helps us notice concerns, identify those who may need support, and offer help when it matters most, then we are truly succeeding as a club.  For those interested, the documentary is available on Hulu and Disney’s streaming platforms.

Pam Coleman from Elk Rapids Community Cupboard made a very nice presentation about the food insecurity and how they are helping local community along with Food Coalition.
