A big thank you to Judy Parliament, Director of Commission on Aging for her informative talk about all the positive things our commission does for the county.  
As I finish up my last two months as president of The Elk Rapids Rotary Club, I extend my thanks to all of you for making this a wonderful year in Rotary.  It has been my pleasure to serve in this capacity.  I firmly believe that "Knowledge is Power".  With the addition of weekly speakers as well as bulletins, I hope that you feel better informed about what is happening in your Rotary Club and in the Village of Elk Rapids.  
Bob Strehl will provide a member forum on April 23.  
Volunteers are needed for June Member Forum.  Please let me know if you are willing to provide information about your background.

Important All Member Vote on Several Issues May 7.  Agenda items will include a vote to increase the Rotary International Dues with Club Dues remaining the same, a vote to approve desks for students in Malawi Africa in the amount of $6,000 and a report from the fundraising committee.

Empty Bowls is back!  Mark your calendars for April 28, from 11:00-3:00 p.m. at Howe Arena, Traverse City. This year's event will showcase the connection between Empty Bowls and the artist community her in Northern Michigan with the theme Heartful Artists....brushing away hunger.  For ticket information: EmptyBowls@northwestmifoodcoalition.

Tom Vranich reports that Community Service Work Days are scheduled for April 30, July 20 and September 21.  There will also be a work detail to assist with outdoor canopies for Art+ Connection.  TBA  Additionally, the Skegemog Raptor Center has made a grant request in the amount of $2000 for construction materials.  This request will go to Good Works for approval.
 
 
Gospel Concert at First Presbyterian Church
May 19 at 4:00 p.m.
 
Cheryl Knight announces that The Rotary Club of Elk Rapids will be the recipient of the free will donation following the concert on May 19.    Several Rotarians are singing in the concert.  Please join us on stage or in the audience for some uplifting melodies and soft, soothing vibes!
