As we start the new year, hopes are always high for a happy and successful 2025. Regarding our club, my hope is that we can find some projects that make an impact by pooling our talents and resources, and we give members a chance to enjoy the cameraderie that working together brings. If you have ideas for such projects, please let me know.
Another focus will be our club's 75th anniversary, and we have a committee working on what special we can do,to raise awareness in the community about Rotary.
Red Kettle Report
Once again Rotarians have shown a great ability to help raise money for those in need in our area. According toJim Hockin, between November 8 and December 21 on Fridays and Saturdays a whopping $10,529.05 in donations found their way into the kettle in front of the Village Market in Elk Rapids. A special thank you to Jim Hockin, who despite the physical issues he's been facing, worked relentlessly to keep the kettle manned. Also, thank you to the bell ringers, many of whom pulled multiple shifts in the cold to ensure that donors saw a smiling face with the kettle.
The project is also a good awareness raiser for our club, as I personally can attest to. People notice that we are Rotarian volunteers, and I had people comment on it, and ask questions about the club.
