Fundraising Campaign!
September kicks off our new fundraising campaign, set to run into October, which is anticipated to provide the bulk of the funding we need for the GW Committee operations for this Rotary year. Highlights of the plan are:
  • Personal asks by club members of area businesses, friends, and family for support for Rotary
  • An organized plan, like what we did with the Talent Show, to maximize coverage and minimize duplication of asks
  • Tracking of donations to monitor progress and guide efforts
  • Printed materials will be provided to help tell the ER Rotary story during asks
  • An aspirational goal of $1,000/club member annually in donations from a combination of solicited donations and personal contributions
Although donations will be tracked (of course), there will be no posting of club member's individual success in the effort. We are counting on our member's personal motivation to make this successful.

Ed Boettcher will again talk about the fundraiser this week at the regular meeting.

President's Message
As Rotarians, part of our purpose is the support of programs around the world, like the Polio Eradication effort. At last week's meeting, our Rotary Foundation Committee chair Bob Chaphalkur did a great job explaining how our donations to the Rotary Foundation help with that effort. Bob described the various facets of the Foundation, the grant making process, and the expectation for our individual participation. Thanks Bob, both for your dedication to promoting the Foundation and for giving us a lively discussion about it. Well Done!

Change in Meetings
After some consideration, we are swapping the monthly GW Committee and regular Board meeting dates as requested by Jim Nothoff and the GW Committee. Starting in September, the GW Committee will meet at First Pres Church on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, and the regular Board meeting will follow on the 4th Tuesday of the month. This is will hopefully make it more expedient to handle business in a timely fashion within the same month, as GW can make its recommendations and then the Board can follow up on them within 2 weeks and the same month.
