It is with sadness and a great sense of loss that we announce Joe Yuchasz,passed away the morning of January 18, 2023.
Joe has been a beloved person in Elk Rapids ever since most of us can remember, as a musician, businessman, cinema-lore resource, Amvet, Rotarian, Village President, good friend, and in many other ways I'm sure. For years, he played piano at Rotary meetings for our weekly songfest. He often ate lunch with his sister Catherine Allegrina at the Amvets hall. Joe doted on the cinema. He often took tickets, sold candy and popcorn, or just hung around to chat. The cinema was transformed with digital sound and projection plus a complete restoration of the interior that still retained a blacklight ceiling.We'll miss him.
